With seaweeds, we need to give our bodies, a little and often, for the best absorbtion of the seaweed’s nutrients. We need to give our digestive flora time to produce dedicated enzymes to thoroughly digest the dietary seaweeds. We really, really need them, here is a short list of the health giving properties of my tapenade:
Seaweeds contain cancer fighting agents, called fucoidans that possess immune-stimulants,
Also, seaweeds have anti-viral, and anti-cancer properties.
They also have lots of Iodine, as they absorb this mineral from the sea, which helps in the regulation of the thyroid, brain and pituitary gland. Iodine is also vital in pregnancy and breastfeeding for the normal development of the brain cells in the baby!
Anti-obesity effects, the compound fucoxanthin, present in seaweed, helps in the reduction of accumulating fats, so aids weight loss. Added to this the mild laxative effect, seaweed is very useful in maintaining healthy digestion.
Other properties are: anti-coagulant, helps with dental health, detoxification, flu, cardiovascular health, protects your eyes, gives you healthier hair and skin…
So, the other main ingredient is Wild Garlic, when eaten regularly, it too promotes the general health of our bodies.
It lowers the cholesterol levels in the blood, cleanses the blood, helps with high blood pressure and reduces the risk of the artery wall thickening, usually caused by cholesterol and tones the heart and circulatory system too! So reducing the risk of stroke and heart disease.
Lots of vitamins and minerals, vitamin A, C and its partner iron, Phosphorus, sodium and copper.
Now for the best bit!!
Wild Garlic is anti-fungal, astringent, diuretic, antispasmodic, anti-bacterial, antiseptic and antispasmodic……to add to this delicious olive and garlic tapenade to pasta or have it on fresh bread
Is a great thing to do on so many levels?
